What Is ClearCorrect?
Similar to Invisalign, ClearCorrect is a nearly invisible system that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth. These clear braces are designed to be a discreet and comfortable substitute for metal braces.
The treatment includes sets of clear teeth aligners custom-made for the patient, who wears each set for one to three weeks and then switches to the next one. During these periods, the clear braces apply consistent, gentle pressure to move the teeth into the desired positions.
The FDA-approved ClearCorrect clear aligners are made from ClearQuartz™, a proprietary tri-layer plastic specially formulated from polyurethane resin. Extensively tested for use in clear teeth aligners, the material leads its class in stress retention, crack & impact resistance, and stain resistance & clarity, as well as biocompatibility.
The treatment is managed by Oswego Dental Group cosmetic dentists who monitor progress and make any needed adjustments along the way. Overall, ClearCorrect provides an easy, personalized way to achieve a perfect smile.
ClearCorrect: More About Malocclusion
Crooked or misaligned teeth (malocclusion) can result from genetics, childhood habits (e.g. thumb-sucking) or a lack of orthodontic care when young. Malocclusion can initiate different dental and health problems such as the following.
Oral Health Issues
Tooth decay & cavities: Crowded or overlapping teeth interfere with proper cleaning, which can encourage plaque buildup.
Gum disease: Because of the difficulty cleaning them, misaligned teeth can contribute to gingivitis and periodontitis.
Tooth wear & damage: Uneven pressure on teeth can cause chipping, fractures or excessive wear over time.
Functional Complications
Compromised chewing: Misaligned teeth can lead to digestive issues by making biting and chewing less efficient.
Speech problems: Severe malocclusion can create lisps or difficulty pronouncing certain words.
Jaw pain & TMJ disorders: Uneven bite forces can strain the temporomandibular joint, causing pain, clicking, lockjaw or headaches.

ClearCorrect: What’s Involved in Treatment?
If you feel cosmetic dentistry treatment is potentially desirable, Oswego Dental Group will begin with a current assessment of your dental history and condition. We will discuss that information with you in helping to determine if ClearCorrect is a preferable approach for your dental goals.
If you are a good candidate for clear braces, your cosmetic dentist will take photos and x-rays, use a scanner or impressions to capture the shape of the teeth and submit your prescription to ClearCorrect.
Next, we will customize a series of clear aligners for the teeth you wish to move. You would wear them for at least 22 hours per day through each treatment phase, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. Maintaining 22 hours per day is important because not doing so can halt the corrective process and within a few hours start to reverse it.
It’s fairly common to experience some tenderness or sensitivity for the first few days of wearing a new clear aligner. You may experience a short-lived increase in salivation or mouth dryness as well. At times your bite also might feel slightly different while the straightening teeth are in transition. However, the more you wear it, the more comfortable it will become.
In some cases, the clear teeth aligners may cause a lisp as you get used to speaking with them. Although the aligners may affect speech temporarily, most people soon adapt with them, and extensive impairment of speech is rare.
Cleaning the aligners can be done simply with cool water, a toothbrush and a non-abrasive toothpaste.
Your goals and the targeted amount of correction will determine the total length of treatment. A follow-up retainer may be needed depending on the treatment results. If so, your Oswego Dental Group cosmetic dentist will recommend a retainer wear schedule based on your dentition and teeth correction.

When my dentist of many years retired, I knew I would have to find another one to replace him. I had a “fear” of dentists, and I didn’t want to just randomly call another one. I searched online and read many, many reviews of other dentists, but I kept coming back to the Oswego Dental Group. The reviews were all five stars, and I thought to myself if even HALF the reviews are accurate, I’ll start there. But I wasn’t in a hurry…….who actually loves going to the dentist? I didn’t! Then I cracked a tooth a few weeks ago and knew I had to get it taken care of. I called Oswego Dental Group to set up an appointment on 2/25 and they fit me in on 2/26. From the moment I walked into the building until I left an hour and a half later, I realized the reviews I’d read were 100% spot on! I’m not familiar enough with everyone there to know all their names yet, but the dental assistant I had was absolutely wonderful in every possible way. Her sense of professionalism mixed with light hearted humor put me at ease immediately. Dr. MacDonald was the same ~ very professional, but with a good mix of humor, too. He checked out the tooth that I’d cracked and explained everything clearly to me. I walked out of there with a temporary crown on my tooth while a new one is being made. For someone who was once fearful of dentists, I have zero hesitation or concern of returning to Oswego Dental Group in a few weeks for the final crown to be put on my tooth. We had a wonderful experience with Dr Milazzo and Ann. I called to ask for a consultation and got an appointment the next morning. Upon arriving we were greeted and shown to the back. My husband (70 yrs old) had a baby tooth that needed to be pulled but he is on blood thinners and has an LVAD (heart pump) and we always encounter people not wanting to help him because of his medical condition. I love going to my dentist! For 13 years I have never been disappointed and I greatly appreciate how personable and kind the Hygenists have always been! Today my visit was with Pam. I appreciate the time she took to ask how My family and I were going. Dr, MacDonald also took the time to explain a small upcoming procedure I would be having and in doing so put my doubts at ease! Thank you!!!!

Best dentist experience. Everyone from the receptionist to Dr Milazzo and Dr Macdonald are very friendly. Pam is an amazing dental hygienist. She is absolutely fantastic. Extremely thorough and friendly. I’m sure everyone is great as well but I’ve only had the pleasure of having my teeth cleaned by Pam and have no need to search elsewhere. Thanks everyone at Oswego Dental Group for making my dental visit a good one.
